Arisaig is world renowned for its excellent sea kayaking. With its varied coastline, stunning views, diverse wildlife, shelter and sandy beaches, it has been named by some “a sea kayaker’s paradise”. Arisaig is noted in several kayaking books as a favourite destination.

What better way than by kayak or canoe to enjoy the beautiful scenery and remote sandy coves, with the of a close-up encounter with a wide variety of wildlife, such as seals, otter, dolphin, basking shark and a huge variety of sea birds, the white tailed sea eagle and golden eagle, gannets and the bully of the sea the giant skua or “bonxie”.

There are a range of kayaking possibilities, from day trips within the Sound of Arisaig, to multi day trips taking you further afield. Kayaks and canoes can be hired locally from the Arisaig Sea Kayak Centre (Tel: 07858 214 985) which also offers guided trips and courses. It is an ideal way to take the family to the small islands in the bay or along the shore for a relaxing picnic.
